Leaguer, Tinker and Knox

In 2014 we started searching for a dog that would be loyal, easy to train, smart, big, sweet, and make strangers question coming onto our farm uninvited. We found that such dog in the Shiloh Shepherd breed. After researching among the various breed registries for the Shiloh Shepherd we decided on the now ISSA. That registry seemed to hold true to excellent breeding standards and the registry itself was directly involved with the origin of the breed. There was a breeder who had one male smooth coat puppy available. That was exactly what we were looking for. Holding true to the strict guidelines of the ISSA, Mindy Mencias of Echo Shilohs would not guarantee that she would place the puppy with us until it was put through temperament testing. Finally, after waiting almost two months, we received the call from Mindy that the male pup would fit our home. Well, that puppy turned out to be everything that Mindy said he would and more ! Not to mention that we gained a wonderful friend in Mindy. Mindy is one of the most honest and nicest people I think I have ever met. She breeds awesome wonderful dogs and she knows her dogs well. Mindy has definitely sold us on the Shiloh Shepherd, the registry, and, of course, Echo Shilohs.

This was the very first time that I have witnessed a dog, that not only doesn't mind fireworks, but truly LOVED watching the show. Aeerie was cool as a cucumber as the Pops, Booms and Bangs of the fireworks went off. Which is impressive enough, but her eyes danced with delight as she watched the entire show. This girl is so very balanced and well rounded.

Our family’s experience with Mindy and Echo Shiloh’s has been an amazing journey. Having never worked with a breeder before (all our previous pups had been mixed breeds) we really weren’t sure what to expect, and I’ll admit at first the process seemed a bit daunting. But Mindy walked us through the entire process explained everything to us (the how’s and why’s) and truthfully has been by our side this whole journey. And what a journey it has been. I will admit I was skeptical about the LER process, but have since been amazed at how well Soldotna’s personality was “read”. She has proved to be everything that Mindy said she would be (good and bad) and is “exactly” the family member we were looking for.

As far as Soldotna (Dot, Dottie, Dottles) goes, not only is she a beautiful animal but she has an amazingly affectionate personality. Simply put, she loves being around people, gets along well with other dogs, and has what seems like unlimited energy…until she thankfully “crashes” and sleeps like only a puppy can. She seems to intuitively sense when one of us is upset, or lonely (we are a military family with frequent separations) and just “knows” that affection is needed. On top of that she is a gorgeous girl! Everywhere we go, people comment on how beautiful she is. It’s like living with a rock star!

I would say the very best thing about Echo Shiloh’s is the sense of friendship and family that Mindy has created. The true love and care she shows the breed, and the dogs has been heart warming to see. Mindy keeps in touch, through social media, emails, and calls. Many of us in the “Flair::Griff” litter have kept in touch. We are considering breeding Dot this year. I can truthfully say Mindy is the only breeder I would consider doing this with. If it weren’t for her and the professionalism, dedication, care, and affection she demonstrates Cindy and I would never even consider breeding her.

Our experience with Echo Shilohs has been a wonderful and pleasant one. After contacting Mindy Mencias about our interest in a puppy we were kept up to date through her FB page with photos of the puppies right from their birth. At five weeks old we drove from Chicago to Noblesville to meet Mindy and her Shiloh family. It was amazing to see the pups in person and to play with them while we talked to Mindy about what we were looking for in our family dog. The mother of the litter, Starr was so sweet and very good about us handling her babies. Mindy was down to earth and you could tell she puts a lot of love and care into her dogs. The place was very cozy and clean and the puppies were so beautiful and healthy. Our puppy Hondo is a sweet boy and so smart. As training is important for all dogs, Hondo is doing an amazing job learning quickly. These dogs have great potential and I am in awe of their tenderness and impressive beauty. We keep in touch with photos and anecdotes as Mindy is interested in how the dogs are doing in their new homes. She is always ready for any questions or advice we might need at any stage. We are thrilled with our Shiloh Shepherd and would consider another dog from Echo Shilohs in the future.

I have been waiting for the perfect Shiloh puppy to add to my family for years, and I have looked at and considered many but never really found "that one", until the day I saw the pictures of "Miss Light Pink" on your website. Right away I knew she was for me. You were so wonderful to work with and so knowledgeable about this breed and your dogs and puppies. I was very impressed with the personality screenings that you did on each and every pup to perfectly match them to their families, I have never known anyone so precise and full of knowledge. Bringing home a new puppy can be very stressful and not knowing if it will work out to be the right one is sometimes overwhelming, I felt completely comfortable bringing my baby into my home, from you. Molly has been with us for about 3 week now and she is all that we wanted and more. We decided to crate train her and she took to it right away. She is friendly with our cats and my grand daughter. I would highly recommend you to anyone looking for a Shiloh Shepherd. From health, to beauty to brains-Molly has it all! Thank you again and again!!
